JOHN CLOWES
John Clowes, aged 79, a Civil War veteran, and respected resident of the southeastern section of the county, died Monday at the home of his son, A.W. Clowes, near Cabot. Mr. Clowes served in the 78th Pennsylvania Volunteers in the Civil War. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Leasureville.
Mr. Clowes is survived by three sons and three daughters, Mrs. J.W. Bower, Mrs. J.J. Keck, Mrs. Flavius Denny, Thomas F. Clowes, A.W. Clowes and Edwin Clowes, all of Cabot and the vicinity. Two brothers and two sisters also survive, William and Samuel Clowes, both of Freeport, and Mrs. Fred Bergman and Mrs. William Kiefer, both of Tarentum.
Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the A.W. Clowes family home, in charge of the Rev. Mr. Filbau, pastor of the M.E. church at Leasureville. Interment will be in the Sarversville cemetery.
