David C. Bastian Dies At 65, Partner In Bethesda Law Firm
David C. Bastian, 65, a lawyer who had practiced in Maryland and Washington and was a partner in the Bethesda based firm of Bastian, Clague & Clancy, died May 15 at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital of complications after surgery for an intestinal blockage. He lived in Gaithersburg.
Mr. Bastian was a third generation Washingtonian and a graduate of Coolidge High School. He graduated from the University of Maryland and George Washington University Law School. He had practiced law in this area all his professional life. Mr. Bastian was active in Republican Party politics and he ran unsuccessfully for the Maryland Senate in 1982.
He was a past Master of the New Jerusalem Masonic Lodge in Washington, an usher at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Laytonsville and a member of the Lawyers Club of Washington.
His marriage to Ruth Bastian ended in divorce. Survivors include his wife, Anne B. Bastian and their son, both of Gaithersburg; four children from his first marriage of Silver Spring, Roanoke, Kentucky and Potomac; three stepchildren of Springfield, Davidsonville and Chestertown, Maryland and 10 grandchildren.
