Lifelong Resident Died on Monday of Apoplexy
Funeral services for A. E. Connick, 68, lifelong resident, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Sellergren funeral home, with internment in Evergreen cemetery.
The Rev. Guy J. Fansher will be in charge. Music will be furnished by Mrs. Orrin Carmichael, soloist, and Mrs. Ray Cozad, accompanist. Pallbearers will be Charles Pratt, J. C. England, Howard Copenhaver, Jack Richardson, Ed Medhurst, and O. F. Hallcock. Flowers will be in charge of Mrs. Grace Culla, Mrs. Josephine Clites and Mrs. Jack Richardson.
Mr. Connick, who had been in ill health for three years, died Monday afternoon at his home, 901 West First Street, of apoplexy.
Native of Red Oak, where he was born March 7, 1873, Mr. Connick operated a dry-cleaning shop for many years. He was a member of the Odd Fellows' Lodge.
He was married in 1898 to Effie Garts, who died in 1916, and on April 5, 1923, to Viola Askey.
Survivors are his widow, nine children, Mrs. Gean Bailey, Charles Umphreys, Clarence Umphreys, Clinton Umphreys, Mrs. Avery Blank of Red Oak, Mrs. Oscar Neumann, Nebraska City; A. J. Connick and Mrs. H. C. Schnell of Sacramento, Calif., and Mrs. R. B. Grennell of Topeka, Kan.; a brother, Sam Torrence of Hollywood, Calif., a sister, Mrs. L. M. Strong of Glendale, Calif., and an aunt, Mrs. Frank McMichael of Red Oak.
