ADAM GRASER DIES; WAS 79
Adam H. Graser, 79, life-long New Berlin resident, died today at Waukesha Memorial Hospital of gangrene of the right leg.
He lived at 20125 E. Coffee Rd., in the house that was originally built by his great grandfather, Lorenz Kern, who came to this area from Hesse- Darmstadt in 1834.
The Grasers were among almost a dozen families who lived within a one mile radius of the old German Reformed Church on Racine ave.
The Protestant German settlement in New Berlin once had a shoe shop, creamery, church, tavern and two cemeteries. All have disappeared except nine frame houses, two covered log houses and one stone house.
Graser was a farmer all his life. He was a former treasurer of the town of New Berlin and was an elder in the old Racine av. Reformed church. He belonged to First Evangelical and Reformed church of Waukesha.
He is survived by his wife, Caroline, nee Link; daughters Mrs. Edgar (Adeline) Heilert of Waukesha and Mrs. Carl (Dorothy) Neumann of West Allis; sons Stanley of New Berlin and Loren of Waukesha and sisters Mrs. Katherine Koeffler of New Berlin and Mrs. Louise Lamp of Racine.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Evangelical and Reformed church with the Rev. Howard Kusler officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Home cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the Erling Larsen Funeral home from 4 p.m. tomorrow until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday and thereafter at the church until time of services.
If friends desire, memorial donations maybe made to the Adam Graser memorial fund.
