PEARL H GARLITZ LONACONING Pearl Helen Garlitz, 79, of 259 Sam Crow Road, Lonaconing, died Wednesday, May 22, 2002, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
Born Jan. 13, 1923, in Garrett County, she was the daughter of the late Noah and Inez (Minick) McKenzie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norris Joseph Garlitz, and was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by seven brothers, Leo, Clinton, Cobey, Harry, Fred, Stanley, and Norman; three sisters, Bertha Garlitz, Blanche Spiker, and Mabel Winters; and one grandson, Douglass Garlitz. She was a member of Old St. Anns Catholic Church and she was a homemaker.
Survivors include five sons, Miles J., Arnold B., and Clay L., all of Avilton, Cecil W. of Pocahontas, Pa., Allen L., of Frostburg; one daughter, Helen I. Gilpin of Girard, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 179 Miller St., Grantsville, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where a Christian Wake will be held at 3:30 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted in the Funeral Home, on Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. William Moody officiating.
Interment will be held at the Maryland State Veterans Cemetery, Rocky Gap, on Tuesday May 28, at 10 a.m.
