Alfred Eugene DeLay entered this life February 12, 1928 in Sulphur, Oklahoma to Burt and Mamie (Aldridge) DeLay. He entered into rest April 22, 2009 at his home in Sulphur, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years.

Gene started working at age twelve with an ice delivery route. In the early 50's, he began working in the drilling business and was instrumental in getting the first irrigation wells drilled in the Oklahoma Panhandle. He was also a real estate broker and seismographer during his working years. He and Mary Beth Jackson were married on April 16, 1950. Gene was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows (IOOF). He loved to sing and dance and he enjoyed fishing.

He was preceded in death by is parents, Burt and Mamie DeLay; wife, Mary Beth (Jackson) DeLay; one brother, Doyle Dotson DeLay and one sister, 8 months old, Joyce Aleene DeLay.

He is survived by one son, Michael Jensen DeLay of Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma; one daughter, Donna Cash and husband, Donnie, of Ft. Cobb, Oklahoma; one sister, Alpha Storie of Sulphur, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Glenn Cash and wife, Charissa, of Okinawa and Cynthia Kidd of Carnegie, Oklahoma; five great grandchildren, Gailynn Kidd, Stacy Kidd, Brandon Cash, Cierra, Cash and Laila Cash; and special friend, Phyllis White, of Sulphur, Oklahoma.

Funeral services were April 25 at Krien Chapel in Sulphur for Alfred Eugene DeLay, 81, of Sulphur and burial was at Oaklawn Cemetery. DeLay was born Feb. 12, 1928, at Sulphur to Burt and Mamie (Aldridge) DeLay and died April 22, 2009, at Sulphur.

He and Mary Beth Jackson were married April 16, 1950, and she preceded him in death. He owned DeLay Drilling Service.

Survivors include two children, Michael Jensen DeLay and Donna Cash, both of Ft. Cobb, a sister, two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a special friend, Phyllis White of Sulphur.
