OREGON - Hortense R. "Heart" Stein, age 91, of Oregon, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2006, at Oregon Manor. She was born on July 7, 1914, in St. Louis, Mo., the eldest daughter of John and Hannah (Esselborn) Goessmann.

Heart married Vincent A. Stein on May 28, 1939. They owned and operated Automotive Electric Sales Company from 1962 until 1973. After retirement, Heart and Vince enjoyed traveling for 14 years in their travel trailer. She was a member of Holy Mother of Consolation Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent; a son, Bill; a sister, Melba Neuberger; and a brother, John Goessmann.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLATION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 651 N. Main St., Oregon, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2006, with Father Bill Connell presiding. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
