He enlisted into the Union Army on 14 August 1862. He was identified as being from Mechanicsburg, Illinois. He was assigned as a Corporal to Company C, 124th Illinois Infantry. Corporal Fullenwider was a waggoner in the Union Army. He died on 10 January 1864 at Camp Butler, Illinois.
