LAKIN, ELIZABETH - "Woman Killed in Head - On Crash -- Son, Who Was Driving Car, Held On Vagrancy Charge" Marion county's third fatal accident was recorded yesterday. Mrs. ELIZABETH LAKIN, 45 years old, R.R. 17, Box 432, was killed when the car in which she riding was involved in a head-on collision with another car on 30th street west of Flackville. The car in which she was riding, driven by her son, ROBERT LAKIN, 28, R.R. 17, Box 432, at a high rate of speed, crashed head-on into a car driven by J.B. RUDDELL, 56, 1118 Congress avenue at a culvert in 30th street between United States 52 and Georgetown Road. The drivers and a passenger in RUDDELL's car, WILLIAM E. DOUGHERTY, 29, 1155 Congress avenue, were treated at City Hospital. Victim's Son Arrested. Deputy sheriffs arrested LAKIN on charges of vargancy. LAKIN, according to police files, has been arrested on 13 charges in the last seven years but had been convicted on only three. LAKIN later was brought to police headquarters and slated under bond of $1000. Deputies also arrested a woman who identified herself as ANNA McMANN, 39, living in the 700 block in North Holmes avenue. She was riding with LAKIN, but left the scene of the accident before deputies arrived. They charged her with drunkenness and vagrancy. Native of Tennessee. Mrs. LAKIN, who was born in Winfield, Tenn., had lived in Indianapolis 33 years. She was a member of the Baptist Church in Winfield. Survivors are the husband, ROBERT LAKIN: four sons. ROBERT E. LAKIN, ROY L. LAKIN, DONALD LAKIN and CHARLES LAKIN, all of Indianapolis: five brothers, MACK ADKINS, AVRY ADKINS and TRUMAN ADKINS, all of Indianapolis, JESSE ADKINS of Columbus, and Rev. L.L. ADKINS of Harriman, Tenn., and four sisters, Mrs. A.L. COLLINS of Indianapolis, Mrs. MAUD KING of Rockhold, Ky.; Mrs. MELVIN PRISCILLIS of Berda, Ky., and Mrs! . D.A. MINTON of Harlington, Ky.
