Herbert A. Sperling, 72, of 2314 North Jackson, died July 14, 1985, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, after a short illness. Born Sept. 27, 1912, in Inman, he married Verna L. Blessing Feb 15, 1941, in Salina. a Hutchinson resident since 1954, he was an accountant for Bankers Investment Co., which became Security Pacific Finance, retiring in 1978.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Hutchinson, Elks Lodge No. 453, and a pilot trainer for the U. s. Air Force during World War II.

Survivors: wife, of the home; sons, Dennis, Salina, Robert, Las Vegas, Nev.; daughter, Cynthia Sperling, Newton; brother, Leslie, McPherson; sister, Irene Thiessen, Inman; two grandchildren.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Stanley E. Cover. Burial will be at North Inman Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott Mortuary. The family suggests memorials to the church.
