Date of death:
May 17, 2008

I, Thomas Neal Knost, "Tommy" or "Pa Pa T," began to live on this day Saturday, May 17, 2008, with my Heavenly Father in Heaven. My wife, Sara Gill "Sandy" Knost, was at my side through it all. All those of my family that cared were here with me from the beginning of my illness to the end of my journey. I feel that it is more important to tell you the only accomplishment in my life of any importance was understanding that I needed a savior, and accepting the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross and how His conquering death by being resurrected for me so that on this day I will be with Him in my eternal home. I would like to use this time to thank those who God put in my life to help me in this wonderful learning experience. The most important person to thank is my wife who was the most loyal, unselfish woman I know. Sandy, you led me to my Savior and there is nothing more important than that. You and I were truly one in God. You cared for my every need and loved me with all your heart. I want to say thank you, Sweetheart, and I will be waiting for you to join me one day. I was raised in the Field of Construction. A special thanks goes to Art Farve, Kevin Courville and the entire team at Performance Contractors who were not just a company, but a caring family that did anything and everything for my wife and me. There were many people, many churches that prayed for my family and me. Their prayers were deeply felt. Hebron Baptist Church sent uplifting cards that I have very much appreciated. Pastors Steve Leonard and Mark Rumfellow were among the many people that called and came by to see me. I have loved each and every one of my visitors and phone calls. I want to say thanks to the following friends: Bosco, who brought chicken soup and always called to see how I was doing and would pass on the report to those asking about me at Rubicon, Ricky Provost, Larry Allen, Richard and Jarvis Cloy, Bobby Comeaux (I love you brother - what great times we had), Richard Blalock (thanks for all the help buddy) and Pastor Mike McCain who would come play Gospel music and sing for me. Alonzo Goldman, who loved me like a brother. Jimmy Gill, my brother-in-law who came every morning to bring me a paper and coffee, and took me places. The Ladies' Unity In The Community Prayer Group led by Lyn McCain, Pat, Britton, Sue Nell, Barbara, Clive, Bo, Ashly, Robin (my southern belle), Jack, Laurel, Gary, Wimberly, Marilyn Monroe, who all loved and cared for both Sandy and me in countless ways. I want to express my love and appreciation to my family starting with my parents, Homer and Dot Knost. Thanks dad for all the adventures you gave me the chance to experience, and your devotion to me until the end, and Dot, who stepped in when my mom passed away and loved me as her own. My children, born of flesh and of the Holy Spirit, and brought together as a family by God. Bryan, my son, who I am so blessed and proud to have known- the times we spent before and after I got sick at the camp with Darrel, Butch and Doug. I loved sharing hunting, fishing and just our talks. Bryan's wife, Amanda, who treated me like a father instead of a father-in-law. John Allen, my son-in-law, who is always there when you need him and Jamie Allen, my daughter who I love and let me give her away on her wedding day along side her dad. My son, George Webb, who has become an outstanding man of God, and his wife, Leslie, who always called and came by with food and supplies. My grandchildren, London, my beauty of a granddaughter who sat and talked for hours with me when I was sick. Sloane, my sensitive, caring granddaughter who feels so deeply for everyone. Berkley, my granddaughter who is kind, sweet and a heck of a baseball player. Thomas, my namesake, thanks for the money you saved for me to take to Heaven, and remember, I will be watching you play football. Charley, my funny, happy, red headed baby girl. Kensley, my blue eyed spitfire. I have six siblings that I love and cherish Jane, who would visit even when I was grumpy (and her son Denvil). My brother, Jim, that I love with all my heart who blessed me by sharing his children with me, Jay, Trish, Matt, Megan (my pretend daughter) and Ryan. Debby, my funny, thoughtful sister-in-law who loved me and my whole family, and her mother, Barbara. Scottie, my sister, the hardest working woman I have ever seen, who loved me always. Karla, my baby sister who I love and remember most when it was just the two of us. Barney a great brother-in-law. George Homer, my brother who is a fine and generous man who would come and spend time with me even when he had little to spare. Diana, my sister-in-law who has been uplifting to Sandy, and loves and supports my brother with all of her heart. Eddie Wayne, my baby brother, who has a big barrel chest to hold that huge heart of his and who would do anything for me (and his daughter, Candace) that came to see me often. My brother-in-law, Jimmy Gill and his wife, Barbara - there are no words to express all you did for Sandy and me. My sister-in-law, Bonnie Pulver, and her husband, David. My sister-in-law, Jean Gill. I was preceded to Heaven by my mother, Juanita Knost, one of the finest Christians I have ever known, my in-laws, Mr. and Mrs. James H. Gill Sr., who I loved dearly, and recently my brother-in-law, Richard Gill, who would call late at night to check on Sandy and me. (We just did not know that he would beat me to Heaven.) My nieces and nephews - I love you all. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice of Baton Rouge, Feliciana Home Health Care or Mary Bird Perkins. And lastly, I want to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff that cared for me. A gathering of family and friends will be held at my home at 4360 Idlewild Road in Clinton on Monday, May 19, at noon followed by a memorial service at 3 p.m. To my family, I love you and will see you at the throne of God.
