JOHN T. McAULIFFE, JR., 20, of 5327 Halsey Court, died at University Hospital yesterday from head injuries suffered in an accident earlier in the day, Jefferson County Deputy Coroner Robert Carter said. Police said McAuliffe was riding in a car driven by David U. Smith, 20, of 4133 S. Fifth St. The car struck a utility pole in the 5500 block of National Turnpike, police said. McAuliffe's survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John T. McAuliffe; a sister, Linda McAuliffe; and a brother, Danny McAuliffe. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 6105 S. Third St., with burial in St. Michael Cemetery. Visitation at Rattermans, 7730 Southside Dr., will be after 7 p.m. today.
