Charles Edward Benson, 66, died Saturday at St. Anthony Medical Center. He was a native of New York City, a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Sportsmen's Supper Club, American Legion Post 201 and American Veterans Post 1. Survivors: his wife, the former Patricia McAuliffe; five sons, Daniel P. Benson of Nashville, Tenn., and John R., Robert G., Stephen L. and Gerard P. Benson; three daughters, Patricia Benson Thomas of Brunswick, Maine, Cressy L. Benson of Beaufort, S. C., and Bibiana Benson Mitchell; two stepsons, Lawrence and Thomas D. Higgins; two step-daughters, Susan Garcia and Theresa Gossilin; a brother, James Benson of New York City; two sisters, Margaret Jetter and Ruth Paine, both of Chapel Hill, N. C.; and 15 grandchildren. Funeral: 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 1020 E. Burnett Ave., with burial in Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation at Bosse Funeral Home, Barret and Ellison Avenues, from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday.
