BLOOMINGTON -- Gladys Sylvia Nelson Jacobson, 92, passed away at the Bear Lake Memorial Hospital following a serious illness on Friday, September 20, 2002.

She was born at Tree-Mile in Georgetown, Idaho on March 18, 1910 to Hyrax Jacob Nelson and Julia Louvinia Rasmussen Nelson. Her first years were spent on the family ranch where she enjoyed a happy childhood. She attended the elementary school in Georgetown and graduated with honors in 1924. The Nelson family moved to Bloomington, Idaho that year and she graduated Fielding High School in 1928.

She joined her eternal companion, Cyril Raymond Jacobson, who she married on August 19, 1930 in Bloomington. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan, Utah Temple on July 3, 1951. They shared 62 wonderful years together. Their posterity of six children, 22 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, and rendering service to others was the center focus of her life. She loved spending time with family and friends and rendering service to others through her unconditional love.

Her home was in Bloomington but she spent the winter months with her son, Kay, in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was an active and devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and gladly he'd positions of responsibility while serving in all of the auxiliary organizations. She enjoyed her service in the LDS temples. Having a great interest in genealogy and her pioneer ancestors, she enjoyed being a member of the DUP, Bloomington Camp.

Cyril and Gladys operated a farm until their retirement in 1975. Gladys was industrious and worked hard her entire life. She was employed by the state-operated school lunch program for 16 years. Thereafter, they greatly enjoyed spending the winter months in California and Nevada.

She leaves behind her posterity including six children, Kay Cyril Jacobson, Beverly (Frank) Grunig, Norene (Joseph) Alison, Max (Linda) Jacobson, Janice (Kent) Jensen, Shirley (Laron) Billingsley; and her brother and sister-in-law T Jay Nelson and Nadine D Nelson. They, and all of her posterity and friends will deeply miss her smiles, encouragement, and sweet presence.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and four sisters, Pearl (Clarence) Poulsen, Ruby (Wesley) Osmond, and infant Dora, and Vennna (Lloyd) Derricott.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 24, 2002 at 1:00 p.m. in the Paris Idaho Stake Center and interment filled in The Bloomington Cemetery.
