STATESBORO, Ga. - Mr. Carl Allison Deal Sr., age 83, died Tuesday at his residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The native and lifelong resident of Bulloch County was a 1943 graduate of Statesboro High School and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a retired business owner, having owned Deal's Bakery, Create-A-Cake and a convenience store. Mr. Deal was a member of the Temple Hill Baptist Church, where he was a former Sunday School superintendent and a deacon. He was a member of the American Legion Post 90.
Mr. Deal was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Bell Deal; his parents, Carter and Marie Franklin Deal; a sister, Janice Lewis; and two brothers, Joe Deal and Wilbur Deal.
Surviving are a daughter, Sue Finch of Statesboro; a son, Al "Bo" Deal of Statesboro; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Mary and Don Taylor of Portal, Janelle and Raybon Anderson of Statesboro and Mildred Lewis of Statesboro; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Dan Deal of Brooklet, Guy B. "Bunny" Deal and Sally of Statesboro and Franklin Deal of Statesboro; and five grandchildren, Suzette Stills, Thomas Finch, Ali Deal, Alexis Deal and Beau Deal. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
The funeral service was held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Joiner-Anderson Funeral Home. Interment followed in the Bulloch Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Ronnie Deal, Joey Deal, Benny Lewis, Danny Deal, Mike Anderson, Jim Lewis, Elwood Wilson and Don Taylor Jr.
