Prince was the son of Rev. B. H. and Minty (Holt) Carter. He married (1) Martha Elmira Ridenhour and they had six children: Hurley Davidson, Julius Connelly, Walter Lee, Raymond Odell, Mary Belle and Mattie Princess. He married (2) Virginia Flanouis Misenheimer.
