Earl E. Wallace, 83 of Leavenworth, died Sunday, May 28, 2006 at the Eisenhower VA Medical Center in Leavenworth. Earl was born October 28, 1922 in Leavenworth, the son of Thomas & Ferris (Stanton) Wallace.
He attended parochial schools and graduated from Immaculata High School. After graduation he attended Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, The University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas and The Huston University, in Houston, Texas. He was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity.
Mr. Wallace was a veteran of World War II and Korea, serving in the Army Air Force assigned to counter-intelligence Corp.
Mr. Wallace had been associated with Pittsburgh Plate Glass Co. and Markle Steel Company of Houston, Texas as a sales representative and correctional officer at KSP before entering civil service. He retired from Veterans Administration in 1983 after 24 years of service.
He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 56. He was a past member of American Legion Post 23, Eagles Lodge, Elks Lodge, and the Immaculate Conception Church in Leavenworth.
Mr. Wallace was married to Evelyn Bishoff of Salina, Kansas in Ottawa in 1946. She preceded him in death.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas Wallace, and James Wallace, who was killed in action in Burma while serving in Army Air Corps in World War II.
Survivors include the Honorable Patrick (Dolores) Reardon, George Collins, and Jean Marie (Collins) Young, all of Leavenworth, and James Stanton Hayes, Louise (Dicks) Kent, and Mary Ann (Dicks) Mullane, all of Kansas City, Mo. He is also survived by numerous first cousins.
Mr. Wallace wished to extend thanks to Cushing Home Health, and the nurses and staff at the Leavenworth VA nursing home.
