Elijah was the son of Dabney Baker & Lucy Atkinson, and the brother of Grace Baker Cole, Mattie Baker Sears & Dabney Baker Jr. Elijah married Sally Cunningham on Jun. 8, 1904, and they had one son, Elijah Baker III.

Elijah Baker, Jr., forty-four years old, for most of his life a resident of Richmond, died at 8 o'clock yesterday morning at Hyco, Mathews County, where he had for the past year or more been engaged in the drug business. Death followed an illness of three months from pleurisy and other complications.

Mr. Baker was born in Richmond on Sept. 1, 1873, the son of Dabney G. and Lucy Atkinson Baker. Here he spent most of his life, becoming widely known in business and fraternal circles. He was a past master of St. John's Lodge, A. F. & A. M., of this city.

Besides his wife, who was Miss Sallie Morton Cunningham, the daughter of Frank W. Cunningham, Mr. Baker is survived by one son, Elijah Baker III; two sisters, Mrs. R. L. Sears, of Mathews, and Mrs. Grace Seigel, of Richmond; a brother, Dabney Baker, of Mathews, and his mother, Mrs. Lucy F. Fleet, also of Mathews. The funeral will take place to-morrow morning from the residence at Mathews. The body will be brought to Richmond Tuesday morning for interment in Hollywood.
