Son of Jacob & Maria (Burkstresser) Baker.
---------------------------------------------------------
Frances A. Baker was born near Waterfall, Fulton County, July 29, 1858, and passed out of this life at the family home in Benedict, Neb. Dec. 31, 1926 at the age of 68 years, 5 months and 2 days.

Mr. Baker was one of the pioneers in the early settlement of Nebraska, he having gone with his parents in 1874. In 1899 he was united in marriage to Cora Cross and to them were born three sons, Harold and Robert of Benedict and George, who is a cadet at West Point. All were present at the funeral.

In early youth Mr. Baker united with the Presbyterian church, later he and Mrs. Baker united with the Methodist church in Benedict. He was always found faithful and at his post of duty in his service to the Master. He was a great bible student and during the past few months much of his time was spent in reading the words of His Master.

His illness dated back to August 19295, when he was stricken with paralysis from which he never recovered.

Besides his wife and sons, he leaves to mourn his departure one brother, D.W. Baker of Benedict, Neb.

Mr. Baker was born on the farm now occupied by Firman McClain and was the son of Jacob Baker, one of the most proficient mathematicians of his day, in the community. His mother was Maria Bergstresser, a sister of Lewis and Wilson Bergstresser, the latter having built and operated the Flouring Mill at Waterfall, all deceased. His only brother, Webster of Benedict, Neb., is married to a sister of D.A. Black of Waterfall.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church the following Monday with Rev. I.G. Hopkins officiating. Interment was made in Pleasant Hill cemetery, Benedict, Neb., where his father and mother were both laid to rest.
