OBITUARY: Boonville, Indiana Standard - January 23, 1931:
August F. Katterjohn was one of eleven children of Ernest and Katherine Katterjohn. He was born at St. Paul, Minn., August 16, 1858, died at Lynnville, Ind., Jan. 13, 1931, at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 28 days. In 1874, he went to Evansville from Henderson, Ky., where he remained in the milling business until 1882, when he went to Lynnville. Here he continued with his milling as an employee of John A. Lynn. Later with his father, Ernest Katterjohn, he purchased the interest of Mr. Lynn. He engaged successfully in this work until the merging of large flour mills in 1925. A few years later he was appointed postmaster of the Lynnville postoffice, in which capacity he served at the time of his death. On October 9, 1884, he married Mary Alberta Lynn, to which union were born three children; Cora K. Parrott of Princeton, Ernest Lynn of White Lake, South Dakota and Mabel Clare Nord of Burlington, Wis. The mother of these children died in 1898. Mr. Katterjohn married Matilda M. Siegel October 29, 1902. He joined the Methodist Episcopal church at Lynnville in 1895 and ever remained a consistent member. He was a member of the Masonic order, Odd Fellows and Woodmen lodges and had been a Mason longer than any other person in this lodge, having been very active in giving instructions in Masonry to many of the present citizens of the community. He served as worshipful master several terms. Surviving him are his wife, two daughters and one son, a granddaughter, a brother Frank E. of Owensboro, and a sister Matilda Schlamp of St. Louis.
