Geneva Beth Knight Birdsell was born to Denzil Braden and Esther Louise Shane Knight in Athens Township, Jewell County, Kansas. On Dec. 31, 1945, she married Dale Elsworth Birdsell at Beloit, Mitchell County, Kansas.

They had six children; Jackie, Johnnie, Jimmie, Judy, Jody and Jerry.

Geneva spent the early years of her marriage as a housewife and mother to her children. She enjoyed baking and sewing. Once they moved to the farm, she also added gardening to list of activities.

In the early 1970s, Geneva acquired two new loves: genealogy and antiques. As her children graduated and moved out of the house, she spent time working on the family history and was a charter member of the North Central Kansas Genealogical Society. She canvased a large percentage of the cemeteries in Jewell, Mitchell and Smith counties gathering information for the society. She also poured through old newspapers documenting information pertaining to the pioneers of North Central Kansas. Much of her work is still available at the North Central Kansas Genealogy Society in Cawker City, Kansas.

Geneva also opened an antique shop in Cawker City called Waconda Antiques.

Even with all her activities, she always made time for her family. Her husband, children and grandchildren were the life treasures she cherished the most.
