Louisa Gay was the Native American wife of George Kirby Gay. She and her husband built the first brick house west of the Rocky Mountains near Wheatland, Oregon. She lived her entire life in the Oregon Territory and was hostess to many important visitors in her home. Louisa and her husband entertained many travelers to the area including Commodore Wilkes who mentioned her in his famous Wilkes Narrative.
Note* Louisa's month and year of death were obtained from documents from the National Archives in Seattle, Washington. It should also be noted that her legal name was LaLouis J. Gay.

Louisa Gay, wife and mother of nine children with George Kirby Gay, died in June, 1862. Their known children are as follows:
1. Mary Ann Gay who married Hiram Simkins
2: Joseph Witcum Gay who married Philomene Bercier and then Mary Sinclair Weston.
3. John Kirby Gay who married Marguerite Gervais
4. Alfred Gay
5. Paul George Gay
6. William Edouard Gay
7. Adaline Bellay Gay who married Elisha McKinley and then William Dent
8. Louisa Gay who married Francois Gervais and then Benjamin William Cave
9. Henri St. Clair Gay.
