Richard C. "Dick" Braswell, 64, of Highland died Augus 2, 1998 at St. Luke's Hospital West in Chesterfield, MO.

Mr. Braswell was born in St. Louis, January 13, 1934, the son of Courtney Braswell and Dorothy braswell Kloss (ne Rosenstengel). On June 18, 1955, he married Dolores A. Wolbert at the Evangelical and Reformed Church in Highland, by Rev. Arby Hosto. She survives in Highland.

He lived in St. Louis until he was 13, when his family moved to Alhambra. He served with the U.S. Army from 1957-59 and was discharged from a reserve unit in 1963. He and his wife moved to Highland in 1955 following their marriage. They lived briefly in several states while he was in the service, but returned to make Highland their home.

Mr. Braswell worked for the New York, Chicago and St. Louis Rail-road. (1950-55)' Shell Oil Refinery (1955-66); and then as a foreman at the Newton Powerhouse construction site. He enjoyed boating, swimming and fishing as recreational activities. He was a member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ, Highland Lodge #583 A.F and A.M., Scottish Rite Bodies-Valley of Southern Illinois, Loyal Order of the Moose in Edwardsville, Helvetia Sharpshooters Society, Highland Piston and Rifle Club Highland Sportsman's club and Labors' Local #1 in St. Louis.

Other surviving family members include a sone, Greg R. (Lisa)Braswell of Oreana, IL.; Two daughters, Debra A. (Jay) Avila of New Port Richey, Fla, Teri A. (Mark) Mustain of Highland; two brothers, James D. (Jan) Braswell of Marine, Lynn E. (Petra)Braswell of Mackenbach, Germany; three sisters, Trilby "Katherine" (Wesley) Leech of Cumming, GA, Susan E. (Edward) Zeller of New Douglas; and eight grandchildren, Nicholas J., Jacob Rl, and Brooke A. Braswell of Oreana, IL., Christina M. Avila of New Port Richey, FL.,Kailah D., Lynzey C., Kiersten A., and Emilie E. Mustain of Highland.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a stepfather Donald Kloss.
