James "Jim" McCleskey

Funeral for James "Jim" McCleskey, 78, of Hartselle was Tuesday at Caddo Congregational Christian Church with the Rev. Gary Cardwell, Rev. Tom Campbell and Rev. Greg Standridge officiating.

Burial was in Caddo Cemetery with Ridout's Brown Service Funeral Home directing.

Mr. McCleskey died Sunday, February 14, 1999, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born April 17, 1920, in Morgan County to Farris and Mary Lou McCleskey. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy in Guam. He was a member of Caddo Congregational Christian Church and was retired from Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant as a carpenter.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian McCleskey; seven sons, Eugene McCleskey, Gary McCleskey, John McCleskey, Paul McCleskey and Mark McCleskey, all of Decatur, and Farris McCleskey and Harvey McCleskey, both of Hartselle; five daughters, Marjorie Richardson of Madison, Margaret Self of Hartselle, Dorothy Jones and Kathy McKee, both of Decatur, and Joyce Smith of Trinity; two sisters, Ruby Higdon and Dorothy Lake, both of Hartselle; 27 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Alabama.
