Benajah Story, was born in Norwich, Connecticut, married twice in Bennington, Vermont, and died in New York, probably Cortlandville, a Revolutionary War veteran. He had two children by his first wife, Lydia Scott, and seventeen more by his second wife, Anna Tubbs.

The Revolutionary War Pension files on Benajah Story include a page torn from his family Bible that lists all the children, but there is no Uriah among them. The births of all except the last three are also recorded in the vital records of Bennington, Vermont. Those last three, as recorded in the family Bible, were Deborah, b. 1794; Daniel, b. 1795; and Plinny, b. 1796.

Benajah had 2 wives and over a dozen children in total. He is a descendant of the famous Samuel Story and a relative of Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story.
