Emma Smith House - passed away peacefully at her home in Theodore on August 1, 2009. She was 84 years old. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church Theodore. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Preston H. House, her son, James P. House, Sr., her cherished grandson, James P. (Sonny) House, Jr., dear sister, Dot Smith House and brother Olive Smith. Survivors include: Daughter, Cindy House-Pearson (Winky); and son, Tommy Lee House, all of Theodore. Grandchildren, Angela Van den Bosch (Thann) of St. Elmo; and Lori Ann House of Pensacola. Great grandsons, James P. House, III of Albuquerque, NM and Dallas P. House of Coffeeville, AL. Sisters, Peggy Johnson (Wesley) of Foley and Nita Mills of Mobile; and devoted niece Patricia Collins of Foley, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Emma was an accomplished gardener and who was also known by her many friends as a superb Southern cook. She was kind and compassionate to all she met. Her home was always open to anyone who needed a place to stay, a home-cooked meal and a kind word. She devotedly and unselfishly cared for her incapacitated husband at home for 11 years. Rudy Pearson, her beloved granddog provided much joy and comfort in the last years of her life and is anxiously awaiting her arrival in heaven. The family would like to express their gratitude to her caregiver, Janet Hickman, for her loving and devoted assistance. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at 12 Noon in Serenity Memorial Gardens with Rev. Larry Gilaspy officiating. Visitation will be 10AM to 12 Noon Tuesday at Serenity Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Johnny Williams, Perry Wilson, Mike Joyner, Christopher Collins, Roy Dueitt and Greg Maze. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Glordano (Goldrush) and Brandon Pearson.
