James H. Barr was a native of Hardin County, Ky. and the son of David Wesley (1829-1915) and Sarah Elizabeth Herron Barr (1833-1902). Both of his parents were living in California at the time of their deaths. He came to Louisville, Ky. when about 21 years old. He was an executive with insurance companies in Louisville. He was an active Republican and at the time of his death was Jefferson County indexer.
