Wiliam J. Merryman, 72, of Carrollton, died Tuesday night, August 31, in Mercy Hospital after an operation. A retired carpenter, Mr. Merryman was born in Bloomingdale, Jefferson Co., December 1, 1869, a son of Rezin and Hannah Belle Merryman. He moved to Carrollton 12 years ago and was a member of the Presbyterian Church. Mr. Meryman was married to Dorothy West of Coshocton on November 26, 1890 and to them were born three children, Mrs. J. A. Calderhead of Carrollton, Mrs. H. J. Merryman of Bloomingdale and Mrs. C. A. Flenniken of Smithfield. Mrs. Merryman died March 28, 1931. His second marriage was to Elsie E. Francis of Smithfield on April 30, 1934. Surviving also are his wife; a sister, Mrs. Samuel Frazier of Bloomingdale, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Brief services will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in the home on west Main Street with Rev. W. R. Taylor officiating. Later services will be held in Bloomingdale Presbyterian Church at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Bloomingdale Cemetery with Blazer & Graham in charge.
