Leonard was born on August 20, 1929 in Spring Hill, Minnesota to Bernard and Mary (Hiltner) Wolbeck. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Leonard married Sandra P. Parsons on April 23, 1963 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in St. Cloud. He was employed as a truck driver by Borgert Concrete and later by Bauerly Brothers and Amcon Block until he retired in 2004. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish.

Leonard enjoyed fishing, crafts, camping, putzing in his shed and he especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy; children, Mike (Terry) of Sauk Rapids, Doug (Jackie) of Bowlus, Kurt (DeNetta) of Sauk Rapids, Brad (Stacy) of Sartell; 16 grandchildren; two great granddaughters; and one great grandson.
