The presentiment had come to Mrs. Elizabeth Betts that the time of her departure was at hand. She had suffered long and patiently and finally on the evening of September 27, 1920, she fell asleep with the assurance of rest and a blessed immortality. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord, they rest from their labors and their works do follow them."
Mrs. Betts was born in Naperville, Feb. 12, 1860. Her age at death was 60 years, 7 months and 15 days. She was united in marriage to Thomas Betts on Nov. 5, 1892, with whom she shared the sunshine and shadows of this life. About five years ago she suffered a stroke of paralysis and two years after another stroke, which caused her to be an invalid. Through this illness her husband gave her the kindest care. The third stroke came last Sunday and led to her death on Monday evening.
Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her departure, two sisters, Mrs. Lucy Marvin and Mrs. Mary Stutenroth, of Dakota, also six brothers, David, Simon, William, Abraham, John, and Adam Gushard.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday afternoon, September 29, by Rev. L. C. Schmidt, of Grace church, at the home of Thomas Betts, 130 Jefferson St. Comforting selections were sung by Mrs. Darwin Stark and Mrs. A. W. Dewar, accompaniedby Mrs. E. Rariden.
