"Daily Kennebec Journal" Tuesday, January 3, 1905: Mrs. R. W. Pitts received the sad news, Wednesday, of the death of her aunt, Mrs. Philena N. Bailey, who died at her home in Pittston, December 26. Mrs. Bailey was the widow of Capt. George Bailey, who died, last October. She was the daughter of William L. and Betsey (Bailey-Brown) and was born in Chelsea, Maine, 71 years ago. She was a loving mother and kind neighbor and was beloved by all. She leaves three children to mourn her sad loss, Mrs. Charles Lawrence of Pittston, Mrs. Allen Lewis of Farmingdale and George Bailey Jr., who lives on the home place. She also leaves a brother and sister, Abner J. Brown and Mrs. Mary A. Foster of Montana.
