George was living in Canton, Ohio, in 1870 and did mechanical work there at a reaper shop. He became a skilled plasterer and was one of the artisans who worked on the Indiana Statehouse, which was completed about 1878.
He married Sarah Elizabeth McCleerey April 23, 1874 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Known as Sally, the daughter of Martha Blackwell and Andrew McCleerey, was born November 22, 1851 in Nashville, Brown County, Indiana.
George died of typhoid fever and pneumonia, on December 04, 1879 in Indianapolis. He was buried in Crown Hill Cemetery, a month after his death. (The ground was frozen solid in December 1879.) Sally lived until March of 1914. She is buried beside her husband.
