Mary Cota was born April 26, 1914, in Harpers Ferry, Iowa, moved to Dubuque, Iowa, as a child with her family and graduated from Visitation Academy. On Oct. 23, 1939, she married Waldo H. Deuser in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and they lived in a number of Midwestern cities before moving to Rochester in 1953. Mrs. Deuser was a bookkeeper for Dodge Lumber and Fairway Manufacturing until her retirement. After her husband's death on Sept. 24, 1984, she moved to Austin. Mrs. Deuser was a Philomathian volunteer and active in St. Edward's Catholic Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Diane (Mrs. Jack) Keenan of Austin, Roxanne (Mrs. Jon) Butler of Hamden, Conn., and Marilyn (Mrs. Tim) Pryor of Minnetonka, Minn.; five grandchildren; a sister, Anne Schuster of Dubuque; and a brother, James Cota of Dubuque. She was preceded in death by a sister.
A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Austin, with the Revs. John Sauer and Frank Enright co-officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday at Mayer Funeral Home in Austin where there will be a wake service at 7 p.m. Thursday.
