THATCHER RITES ARE ARRANGED.
Hero Killed In Action In Africa To Be Buried In Linville.
The body of T/5 John P. Thatcher, killed in action in the African Campaign on February 18, 1943, will arrive at the Missouri Pacific Station Saturday morning at 7:15 and will be carried to the Hall Funeral Home where services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. C. S. Cadwallader, pastor of the College Place Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Abscent Cemetery, near Linville.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mattie Thatcher, Monroe; three sisters, Necie Thatcher, Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Opal C. McLean, Monroe, and Mrs. Grady Duke, Farmerville; and four brothers, John W. Thatcher and J. D. Thatcher, both of West Monroe, Walter Thatcher, Ball, La., and Ed Thatcher, Monroe.
He attended Barkdull Faulk Grammar School, Ouachita Parish High School, and Northeast Junior College. He entered service in November 1942, and was killed the following February.
Rodney J. Hobbs Post, V.F.W., will have charge of the services at the graveside. They are asked to meet at their hall at 1 p.m., and to proceed from there in a body to the Hall Funeral Home.
