Orangeburg, S.C. - Joseph Jesse Sanford, 70, died in an Orangeburg hospital Tuesday after an extended illness. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Dukes-Harley Funeral Home. He was born in Orangeburg County, son of the late F. R. and Minnie Harley Sanford. Mr. Sanford was a member of Two Mile Swamp Baptist Church and a member of the Woodmen of the World. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mary Phillips Sanford of Orangeburg; two daughters, Mrs. Bennie Sutcliffe of Norway, S.C., and Mrs. Ralph Moore of Cope, S.C.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. D. R. McCaughin of Augusta; a stepson, Miles W. Morris of Nashville, Tenn.; and a sister, Miss Zerena Sanford of Tampa, Fla.
