Services for Mrs. Sylvia Alice LaPrairie will be at 3:00 pm Saturday, August 1, 2009, from New Hope Free Methodist Church of Deville, LA. with Rev. Kenneth Lukens and Rev. Adrian Gardner officiating. Interment will follow in New Hope Free Methodist Cemetery of Deville. Mrs. LaPrairie, 95, of Grayson was born in New Era on August 21, 1913, and passed from this life on Thursday, July 30, 2009, in Glenwood Regional Medical Center. She was a minister's wife of 62 wonderful years and was foremost dedicated to her family and her service as a Christian. She was a Sunday school teacher most of her life as well as president of the General Free Methodist Conference and one of their delegates for many years. She was loved and respected by all. She was preceded in death by her parents, Major K. and Octavia Bryan Fisher; husband, Rev. Lorenzo Franklin LaPrairie; son, Laverne Franklin LaPrairie; brothers, Irving Fisher, Manuel Fisher, & Oderon Fisher; sisters, Sarah Verhayden, Alzine Beubouef, Arelia LaPrairie, and Helen Beall. Survivors include her daughters, Yvonne Simpson Quaid and Delores LaPrairie Hays; two half-brothers, Lewis Fisher and Malcomb Fisher; grandchildren, Sylvia Quaid, Monica McIntyre, Allison Hughes, Randy LaPrairie, Sonda Harrelson, Pascha Dickson, Shane Pennington, and Jay Pennington; Special great grandson Chris LaPrairie. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews. Friends may call at New Hope Free Methodist Church in Deville from 5pm to 8pm on Friday, July 31, 2009 and from 10am until time of services in the Church on Saturday.
