Lora Estes Sullivan was the second child born to Florence Elizabeth ""Laura" Walker and John Wess Sullivan. He was born and grew up in Elvira Township of Johnson County, Illinois. He served with honor in World War I attaining the rank of Corporal, in the Ammunition Train, and fought in the Battle of the Arrgone. May 22, 1922, he wed Miss Lela Smith. The marriage produced two daughters, Martha Elizabeth and Mary Lee. He was employed by the Central Illinois Railroad as a Building Supervisior, overseeing the creation of bridges. In his retiring years he and Lela purchased the Goodman Farm west of Goreville. Today they rest in peaceful repose side by side in the Pleasant Grove Memorial Cemetery, in Murphysboro, Illinois.
