THE PARIS NEWS, Fri., Apr. 4, 1997, p.6A: '(Picture) Sammy Joe Ellis, 46, of Dallas, formerly of Paris, died Monday, March 31, 1997. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at Greater Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Jones officiating. Burial will be in Biardstown Cemetery by Golden Gate Funeral Home of Dallas. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Friday, at the church. He was born Aug. 20, 1950, in Paris to Roscoe and Veola Ellis and attended Lamar County schools. Surviving are a son, Archie Lee of Dallas; his father who lives in Paris; his mother, now Veola Hearn of Dallas; a sister, Gloria Brown of Commerce; two brothers, David Ellis of Dallas and Robert Ellis of Killeen; six nieces and nephews and four aunts.'
