He was raised in Wyandotte and lived in Trenton after his marriage to Pauline LaBeau, until her death in 1981. He moved to Prescott and married Eleanor May. She preceded him in death in 2002.
He enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing, gardening, reading and Texas.
Mr. Gardner is survived by his son, Gary and his wife Roberta Gardner; his daughter Mary Lee and her husband Wayne Gwizdale; three grandchildren, Steve, Suzie and Joseph; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held June 28, 2003 at 2 pm at Christ Church of East Tawas, 202 West Westover Street, East Tawas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
