Oscar Dahlberg was born in Rock Island County, IL to Civil War veteran Swen Dahlberg, a native of Sweden, and his first wife, Mary Ann Squires of Tonawanda, New York. Oscar's mother died March 5, 1881.

His siblings from this marriage were Ellen, born June 22, 1873, who died in infancy; Benjamin J., born September 28, 1875 who died in infancy; John C., born September 11, 1877 and lived in Louisiana.

His father married a 2nd time to Mary G. Nelson of Red Wing, MN. Oscar's half siblings from this marriage were: Melkert Nelson, a carpenter born July 11, 1883; Mary Grace, born January 26, 1885, now Mrs Earl H,. Eiteman of Fort Worth, Texas; Benjamin Clarence, a woodworker, born August 18, 1886; and Alice Lillian, an optometrist, born June 28, 1888.

Oscar enlisted in the US Army from Moline, IL on April 26, 1998 and served in the Spanish American War. He was honorably discharged Nov. 25, 1898 at the conclusion of the war.

The 1899 Biennial Report of the Adjutant Gen. of IL, lists Oscar Dhalberg's age as 26, Born in Rock Island, IL, 6 ft. 1 in. tall, blue eyes and brown hair.

Oct 18, 1899 he married Ingred Fjelendor in Rock Island County, IL.

In 1904 he registered for a military pension and was classified an invalid.

Sometime between 1910 - 1920 he married Louisa "Lula" Bentz Hopkins, probably in New Orleans.

Oscar moved around quite a bit. In 1902 he moved to South Dakota and stayed a while. He was in New Orleans on the 1920 census and in Wichita Falls, TX by 1924.

The last time Oscar is found in the records is the 1930 census, living in Madisonville, LA.
