LYNDONVILLE- Darwin L. "Ted" Aldrich, 72, died in St. Johnsbury Aug. 7, after a long illness. Funeral services were held Aug. 10 at the Woods and Trefren Funeral Home with the Rev. J. J. Hutchinson officiating. Interment was in the family lot in Lyndon Center Cemetery. Bearers were: George Hopkins, Raymond Russell, Frank Bull, Harry Berry, Louis Thomas and Walter Hughes.

Mr. Aldrich was born in Pittsburg, NH, April 28, 1892, son of William W. and Melvina Haynes Aldrich, and spent his early life in northern New Hampshire. He is a veteran of World War I, Co.L, 34th Infantry, 7th Division, and served in France. Upon his discharge, he worked in Gilman and came to Lyndonville in 1922. He was employed as a mechanic in garages in the Lyndon and St. Johnsbury area for several years, and later operated a farm on Vail Hill. Since 1946 he was employed as weight sealer at Fairbanks Morse, retiring in 1957.

He married, Sept. 27, 1925, Grace B. Heath of Lyndon, who survives him. He is also survived by a son, Arthur D. Aldrich, of Montpelier, two grandchildren, Susan and George, and by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Aldrich was a member of American Legion Post 30 and Northeast Kingdom Barracks 406, Veterans of World War I.
