Evelyn, age 78, of Brodhead, formerly of Monroe, passed away at Caring Hands Home in Brodhead. She was born the daughter of Walter & Beulah (Lightfoot) Powell. Evelyn graduated from Gays Mills High School in 1948 and later received her teaching certificate from La Crosse Teacher's College and Platteville Teacher's College.
She was united in marriage to Paul Hendrickson on Dec. 21, 1952, in Gays Mills. They lived in Argyle where she taught at Meadowbrook School in Green County from 1952-1956, and she also taught at Latin School in Lafayette County. She then began working as an occupational therapist assistant at Green County Home near Monroe. On Aug. 5, 1968, she began working for Swiss Colony where she was a filing supervisor in various departments in Monroe and Madison, retiring on March 31, 1995. Evelyn also worked as a hostess and waitress in Monroe at the Idle Hour Mansion, Maple Grove, and Turner Hall.
Evelyn was a member of the New Apostolic Church in Monroe. She enjoyed reading romance novels.
Evelyn is survived by two sons, a daughter-in-law, and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul on Feb. 6, 1965; and a brother, John Powell.
