Barbara Breneman died Monday February 17, 1930 at the home of her daughter in Traer, Tama County, Iowa. Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery, Brooklyn, Poweshiek County, Iowa

Barbara Ann Nisewander was born November 29, 1848 near Harrisonburg, Rockingham County, Virginia the daughter of Samuel and Barbara Burner Nisewander.

She spent her childhood and young womanhood near the home of her birth, also receiving her education there. At the age of 20 she joined the Church of the Brethren and has always remained faithful in her belief.

She was married to Peter Breneman on September 1, 1870 in Rockingham County, Virginia. To this union were born eight children; Emma F, Mary M, Edward S, Susan C, John P, William W, Oscar C and Frank B.

They lived in their native state for six years, coming to Iowa in 1876 and settling near Millersburg, Iowa County, Iowa and than moving to Carnforth, Poweshiek County, Iowa

One son, William, died in infancy
