William H. Miller, 79, Noted Granger, Dies

William Henry Miller, 79, of Main St. Hartwick, died Monday night at the parsonage of the Hartwick Baptist Church, residence of his son, The Rev. Walter. A. Miller, pastor, after an illness of six months.
Mr. Miller was born July 18, 1880, in Alps, Rensselaer County, the son of James and Thilura Kittredge Miller. He resided in Otsego County for 27 years and in Hartwick for four years.
An active Grange member, Mr. Miller was a past master of the Gibertsville and Westville Granges, a member of the Otsego County Grange Past Masters' Assn., and of the Grange Executive Committee, the Otsego County Pomona Grange, the New York State Grange, and of the Lena Grange.
He was a member of Hartwick Baptist Church.
On Dec. 18, 1901, he married Alice H. Cook in Middlegrove. She died January 25, 1950, in Westville.
He leaves, besides his son, two other sons, James of Rome, and Charles of Spartanburg, S.C.; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond Blowers, of Mayfield, and Mrs. Clark Jewell, of Westville; a sister Mrs. Lela Ormshy, of Scotia; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one first cousin and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be at 2 today from the Hartwick Baptsist Church with the Rev. Merlin W. Bradley, pastor of the First Baptist Church of Cooperstown and the Rev. Theodore W. Warren, pastor of the Hartwick Seminary Evangelist Lutheran Church, officiating. Burial will be in Westville Cemetery.
The family will conduct a prayer service at 12:30 today at the parsonage of the Hartwick Baptsist Church.
The Tellapaugh Funeral Home of Cooperstown is in charge of arrangements.
