Maxine Frances Hanson, 72, 515 S. Steuben, died early today, June 27, 1989, at her home. She had been ill for three months.
She was born Jan. 20, 1917, at Chanute, Kansas, the daughter of George and Mabel (McDonald) Sheffler.
She was married to Delbert "Swede" Hanson on April 21, 1935, in Chanute, Kansas.
A lifetime resident of the area, she was a homemaker, and had worked years ago as a salesperson at Calvert's Department Store.
She was a member of the first United Methodist Church, the VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries, and was past president and active in the Neosho Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; a daughter, Juliann Hanson, of Shawnee, KS; and a cousin, Iota Foster, of Chanute, KS, with whom she was raised as a child.
Funeral will be Thursday at the Johnson Chapel with the Rev. Jack Gregory and the Rev. Marilyn Gregory officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery (Neosho County Memorial Park Cemetery), in Chanute, Kansas.
Memorials may be made to the Neosho Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
