Joseph John Bedosky, Jr., 72, Henderson, Nevada, died today, July 28, 2009, at his home, following a long illness.
He was born in Wilmore, Pennsylvania, Dec. 30, 1936 to Joseph John Bodosky, Sr. and Ann Marie Krysyna. (Note there is a difference in the spelling of the surnames, caused by typo error on birth certificate).
He graduated with the class of 1954 from Portage High School.
He married Margaret Ann Stoops on June 25, 1960 at Orlando Air Force Base, Florida. She survives.
He served his country in the US Air Force. Rank of E & Master Sgt. He was stationed in Phillipines, England, Oklahoma, Florida, and Langly AFB. He retired after 20 years of service.
He also was a retired heart surgeon assistant on the cardiac team of Mt. Sinai Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio.
He was instrumental in establishing the surgical assistance program at Cuyahoga County Community College.
He enjoyed watching all sports, and dog racing. And he enjoyed going to the casinos to bet on the dogs. At one time he had raised greyhounds for racing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother-in-law, Joe Stoops.
Survivors include one son, Dr. Joseph Christopher "Chris" Bedosky & wife Marina (Shahinian), Shaker Heights, OH; one daughter, Krystina Marie "Tina" (Bedosky) Glueck and husband Bruce, Parma, OH; one grandson, Jaret Jowalt Glueck; and two step-grandchildren, Michael & Nicole Batchford-Bedosky;three brothers, Charles "Chuck" Bedosky, Belton, MO; Matthew "Bud" Bedosky and wife Sylvia (Wytosick), Arden, NC, and Michael Bedosky and wife Yvonne (Yarosh), Portage, PA; one sister, Mary Ann (Bedosky) Krisko and husband, Joseph, Portage, PA; two aunts, Nancy Barbuti, Scranton, PA, and Grace Vavrek of Nevada; two brothers-in-law, Jack Stoops, Springboro, OH, and Ron Stoops, Chanute, KS; and two sisters-in-law, Arlene (Stoops) Spurlock, Waco, KY, and Kathy (Downey) Hamilton, Williamsburg, VA.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church, Mountain Avenue, Portage, PA, with Father Ronald V. Osinski, VF, celebrant. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Portage, Pennsylvania.
