He proudly served in the United States Army from 1943-1946, spending some time in Germany. He earned several service medals, including a purple heart.
He married Babe Stewart in July 1950. They raised their family together while Ross worked as a security guard at Badger Ordnance, and hobby farmed in Clyde.
They were members of St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Clyde, and later of Sacred Heart in Lone Rock.
Ross was a 54-year-member of the Spring Green American Legion.
Ross leaves behind his wife of 59 years, a son and his wife, five daughters, four sons-in-law, a daughter in law, 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, two brothers, a sister, and a sister-in-law.
Ross was preceded in death by his son, Dennis; his parents; his grandson, Gabriel Williams; and his siblings Erma, Alice and David.
A Memorial mass was held at St. Malachy's Catholic Church in Clyde. Father Andre Panek officiated. Burial with military graveside honors provided by the Spring Green American Legion.
