William H. Emig Sr.
YORK - William H. Emig, Sr., 94, died peacefully at his home in West Manchester Twp. at 2:40 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2009, following a brief illness. He was the loving husband of Lettie J. (Miller) Emig who preceded him in death on November 29, 2007.
The funeral service for Mr. Emig will be held in celebration and thanksgiving for his life at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's (Wolf's) Evangelical Covenant Church, 4501 Wolf's Church Road, York, with his pastor, the Rev. Matthew H. Stillman, officiating. His son, William H. Emig, Jr., Chaplain of Christian Motorcycle Association, will also officiate. Viewings will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Irwin Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday at the church. He will be laid to rest beside his wife in St. Paul's (Wolf's) Church Cemetery, West Manchester Twp.
William was born December 6, 1914, in West Manchester Twp., son of the late Daniel and Elizabeth (May) Emig.
He retired from American Van & Storage Company in both Jacksonville and Miami, Fla., following 25 years of loyal employment. He was a faithful member of St. Paul's (Wolf's) E.C.C. in West Manchester Twp. Mr. Emig will be fondly remembered for his keen sense of humor and his enjoyment of motorcycles, which he proudly passed on to his son.
He will be sadly missed by his son, William H. Emig, Jr. of York; his daughter, Marlene E. Kubiak of Strawberry, Ariz.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Louise Ehrhart of Dover.
