Transcribed from her obituary which was published in The Weekly Star and Kansan, Independence, Kansas on Fri, Aug 20, 1886, page 2, retrieved online at newspapers.com:
This was one of the saddest death scenes that we have witnessed. Mrs. Doop was only sick for a short time prior to her death, and her suffering was very severe the last forty-eight hours of her life, her disease, typhoid fever, being complicated with brain fever and internal inflammation.
The deceased had been married about three years, and she leaves one child, a daughter about two years old – little Estella – so early deprived of a mother's care and love, with a husband, father and mother, brother and sisters and many friends to mourn her untimely death.
God often plucks the choicest flowers from the field of this useful life, that this sinful heart of ours may be closer drawn to Him.
