Patricia was born in Colleton County September 21, 1936 a daughter of the late Phillip and Bessie Willis Ackerman.
She was a graduate of the Orangeburg School of Nursing and devoted her life to the nursing profession. She worked in Geriatric Daycare Services after leaving Oakwood, but was known throughout her community for giving needed health care throughout her life to the shut-ins and elderly home-bound members of Cottageville and the surrounding areas. She would regularly give insulin shots and take blood pressure readings for those in need.
Patricia was also a Christian woman who was a member of both Cottageville Baptist Church and Living Word Church.
She was a gifted writer who had a particular fondness for composing spiritual poetry and children's stories.
She will be remembered as a devoted mother, a caring grandmother, and a loving sister.
She is survived by her two daughters Angie Hoff of North Charleston and Kristie Langdale of Rock Hill. There are two grandchildren, Casey Hiott and Hannah Langdale as well as a sister Peggy Thomas of Cottageville. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Sara Jordan and Kathleen Sauls and by a brother Phillip Ackerman.
Graveside funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11:30 in the Ackerman Cemetery at Red Oak. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 6-8 PM Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home.
